Senior takes individual honours

THE final round of the Sensas Viaduct Teams of Five Winter League series produced some good sport in dreadful weather conditions.

Somerset Angling took team top spot on the day with 85 points, followed by Maver Veals Red with 77 and Viaduct Junior with 71.

Individual honours went to Trevor Senior, of Viaduct Select, with a carp catch weighing 103lb 10oz, taken on straight lead fished sweetcorn.

Gary Wall, of Team Veals, took second spot with a carp catch weighing 70lb 13oz, taken on legered sweetcorn.

He was followed by Frome's Steve Denman, of Carps AC, and Chris Wojtyla, of Team Veals, both with carp catches weighing 60lb 13oz.

Clayton Hudson took the silver fish prize with a catch of skimmers, tench and roach weighing 26lb 9oz.

Other placings: 5 Paul Garrett, Maver Veals Red, 60lb 6oz; 6 Andy Murray, Somerset Angling, 56lb 5oz.

Teams: 1 Somerset Angling 85; 2 Maver Veals Red 77; 3 Viaduct Juniors 71; 4 Team Viaduct 69; 5 Viaduct Select 68; 6 Westerleigh Blue 64.

Final league standings: 1 Maver Veals Red 355; 2 Avon Angling 344; 3 Team Viaduct 343; 4 Somerset Angling 337; 5 Viaduct Select 301.
