Call for help to find gipsy sites

NORTH Wiltshire District Council is encouraging people across the district to help find possible sites for the gipsy and traveller community.

The council will be starting a six-week consultation period to consider potential sites.

The government has made it clear that councils across the country have to provide enough sites to meet the needs of gipsies and Travellers.

A recent survey of North Wiltshire highlighted that 24 additional permanent pitches are needed in the district.

The consultation is in two parts:

  • The council would like to know what peole think about six possible sites already identified that are owned by the council.

  • It is also looking for suggestions of other land in the NorthWiltshire area that could be suitable.

More information about what types of land might be suitable can be found www.northwilts.gov.uk/ldf

This consultation is running until Friday June 20 during which the council will hold special consultation events at each of the council's five area committees.

4 miles off the Dorset coast should be fine.

What is the shortage? The Southwest is chock full of camping sites. Let these filthy parasites use them the same as everyone else. Of course they will have to pay which is probably something that they won't like doing. They usually just steal what they want.

Ithink the age of caring and sharing is not dead certainly reading the comments so far. I bet neither disgusted nor dilligaf have ever met a gypsy and just go on the sterotype? the whole problem is that the South west is not full of sites that is the reason why they are being asked to provide them! I take it neither of you are Christian or for that matter even very human.

here here, i hate "travellers" no one wants them on their patch, they tend to steal, con and make people's lives a misery, the idea of being travellers is so they are supposed to travel? not park up for months or even years taking the p**s out of the laws and regulations the rest of us have to abide by.
well done disgusted and dilligaf for saying what the rest of us are thinking

They do not respect us, we should not respect them.

They appear faster than a Labour stealth tax, then fight from the position of "Possesion is nine tenths of the law"

They seem to have it all sewn up. We are mugs and the law is an ****.

Where can they live? is the question of this story.
Where ever they please seems to be the answer and... asking us NOW where they can go is fighting a reargaurd action as usual. This question is aimed at helping them again!!

Are'nt they lovely people the gypsys.
    Awww... all cuddly and needy.

How about the car park at the council offices - then the council officials will be able to keep an eye on them, and then tell us if they really are as bad as some of the above contributors are implying.

Sorry, Disgusted, but why the urge to pollute the Dorset coast when there is a perfectly fine site called Mount Crushmore ? ? ?

Thats fine but the gypsies we are talking about do not have horses unless you class tarmac lorries, white vans, mobile homes and beat up untaxed and unroadworthy cars as horses.

Natasha....which quarter of you is the gypsy bit? I got a suggestion.....lol

Funny! I thought they all drove Range Rovers with all that money they are saving employing Poles to do their paving and tarmacing. And of course all those taxes they keep in their pockets.
Posted by: YetiJoe, Trow on 8:26pm Fri 9 May 08
If they want to have a permanent home, buy one and pay tax on it.

"Real" gypsies i.e. the ones who used to appear fromtime to time in Semington with a caravan drawn by the horse have never irritated me.

As Necker says, they are simply abusing the system and all taxpayers.

If they want to be travellers, then travel on, otherwise send in the crand with a ball and chain to clear the trash away.

There's a nice plot of land they can have - just down the road a bit, like, sort of towards Scotland, up that road somewhere

Just hang on a wee bit tha noo. Theres a better spot in Russia I can think of and after a few generations of mutation, they may return in their Range Rovers and double axled caravans as normal human beings. Free from the urge to pave and tarmac. They may even want to buy a house and pay taxes!

They got Range Rovers ? B*****r, better get rid of mine in case I am mistaken for one.
