Keep the Wiltshire Air Ambulance Flying
Take part in a sponsored walk for charity on:
Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th June 2008
June 7th and 8th sees the third year of the White Horse Challenge. This highly enjoyable event is organised by Monahans, Lawn Tender, Premier Global and Rygor Commericals, and sponsored by Newsquest, owners of the Wiltshire Times.
The Wiltshire Air Ambulance is a life saving asset for all of the people of Wiltshire and is entirely dependant upon public support to raise enough money each year to keep it flying. The Wiltshire Air Ambulance attended 645 incidents in 2007, where speed made all the difference to a patient, or it was able to reach an otherwise inaccessible location. In February this year alone they attended 41 incidents where 24 people were lifted to hospital.
They need to raise over £350,000 a year to keep the Air Ambulance flying and by participating in this event and raising sponsorship you can make a real difference.

So far £16,000 has been raised for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance by people like you, who have realised they really can make a difference. Perfect for groups of friends, or for business teams, The White Horse Challenge will provide a great opportunity to help this charity whilst experiencing the elation of completing such a physical challenge.
You can either choose the complete challenge, a 55 mile walk, the relay challenge where you can split the distance between a team where you can choose how far each person walks, the one day challenge where you only walk half of the route on Saturday or Sunday, or the 7 mile family challenge. There really is an option to suit everyone.
 THE OPTIONS
Option 1: The Complete challenge
The Complete challenge is 55 miles long over two days. Starting in Devizes, you will walk a circular route around 7 of the white-horses of Wiltshire and see some of the most beautiful countryside anywhere in England. You will walk across to Pewsey via Alton Barnes and then up to Marlborough. On the second day you will head up to Hackpen and Broad Town before turning south to Cherhill and Devizes white horses, finally finishing back in Devizes where the Air Ambulance is based.
Option 2: The Relay Challenge
Split the distance up amongst your team and undertake it as a relay – you decide how far each person walks.
Option 3: The One Day Challenge
Walk half the route by only participating on either Saturday or Sunday.
Option 4: The Family Challenge
A very popular option is the family challenge on the Sunday. This 7 mile route is perfect for families or groups of friends who like to enjoy a few hours walking whilst helping to raise funds for this worthy cause.
